Managing Refills
Version: 0.1.1 | Last Updated: 2026-01-07
Overview
CareForMeds helps you stay ahead of refills by tracking your medication inventory and alerting you before you run out.
How Refill Tracking Works
- When you add a medication, enter your current quantity
- Each time you log a dose, the quantity decreases
- When you reach your refill threshold, you get an alert
- Request a refill through the app
- Update your quantity when you pick up the refill
Setting Up Refill Tracking
When Adding a Medication
- In the medication form, find Inventory section
- Enter Current Quantity - how many pills/doses you have
- Set Refill Threshold - when to alert you (e.g., 7 days supply)
- Optionally add Pharmacy information
For Existing Medications
- Go to the medication's detail page
- Click Edit
- Update the inventory fields
- Click Save
Refill Threshold Options
| Threshold | Best For |
|---|---|
| 3 days | Medications that can't be missed |
| 7 days | Standard medications, most common choice |
| 14 days | Mail-order pharmacies with longer delivery |
| 30 days | 90-day supplies or medications with easy access |
Requesting a Refill
When you see a refill alert:
- Go to Refills or click the alert
- Click Request Refill
- Verify the medication and pharmacy
- Add notes if needed (e.g., "Need early for travel")
- Click Submit Request
The request is sent to your provider or pharmacy for processing.
Refill Request Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Request submitted, awaiting response |
| Approved | Refill authorized, ready for pickup/delivery |
| Ready | Prescription filled, waiting for pickup |
| Completed | Refill picked up and quantity updated |
| Denied | Refill not approved (see notes for reason) |
Updating After Refill
When you pick up your medication:

- Click Save
This resets your supply tracking.
Pharmacy Information
Storing pharmacy details helps with refills:

Refill Reminders
CareForMeds sends reminders at multiple points:
- First alert - When you hit your threshold
- Follow-up - If no action taken after 2 days
- Urgent - When supply is critically low
